Ahead of training camp at the end of the month, Patriot quarterbacks and wide receivers took a trip down to North Carolina.
The outing, which was recorded by New England receiver Kendrick Bourne who posted it on his YouTube page, was organized by Drake Maye, who has had quite the summer. In addition to extra throwing sessions with his teammates, the Pats quarterback also got married.
For the practice posted by Bourne, Maye brought down some of his other teammates like Stefon Diggs, Kyle Williams, and quarterback Josh Dobbs to workout in his hometown near Charlotte.
The first day of practice was held at William A. Hough High School where Maye attended as a freshman and where his brother Luke graduated from.
After working all day on routes and giving tips to rookie Kyle Williams, Bourne recorded himself thanking Maye for the trip.
“It’s really a vacation,” Bourne said. “Thanks Drake for a free vacation. The house we got is crazy.”
The next day, the players were out at 8 a.m., once again working on their routes and for Dobbs and Maye, their connection with the receivers.
On the third and final day, Maye, who attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, brought his teammates onto the field at Davidson College for some final work.
After finishing up the day, the second-year quarterback broke things down for his squad.
“I appreciate you for coming out man, I appreciate y’all,” Maye said to the group. “Y’all good, y’all want some more?
“It’s just something to build on man and I appreciate y’all coming out. Three days of work man. It means a lot to me, coming out here, coming to the home city, we’re on a different field every day but it’s work man, I appreciate y’all.”
After wrapping up minicamp in June, the Patriots still have some time off before training camp starts. The first practices of training camp kick off on Tuesday, July 22, and will run until Sunday, August. 10.
