EX-49ERS QB COLIN KAEPERNICK SAYS NFL INTEREST IS STILL ALIVE: “I’ve Stayed Ready”

It’s been nearly a decade since Colin Kaepernick last threw a pass in the NFL—but the former San Francisco 49ers star insists the dream isn’t dead. In a recent conversation with sources close to the situation, Kaepernick revealed that private interest from NFL teams remains very real, though it’s happening out of the public eye.

> “I’ve stayed ready. I’ve put in the work. Some just aren’t ready for the headlines that come with it,” Kaepernick said.

At 37 years old, the free-agent quarterback continues to train at a high level, maintaining game-ready condition in hopes of a long-awaited return to the league that turned its back on him.

Private Workouts, Quiet Conversations

Despite being exiled since 2016 for kneeling during the national anthem to protest racial injustice, Kaepernick says he’s held multiple private workouts for teams interested in evaluating his current abilities—just not publicly.

Why the secrecy?

According to insiders, teams are wary of the potential media frenzy and public scrutiny that would accompany signing Kaepernick. While conversations are happening behind closed doors, none have yet been willing to take the leap publicly.

Still, the silence doesn’t mean disinterest. It means caution.

“I’ve Stayed Ready”

Since his final snap in a 49ers uniform, Kaepernick has kept a low but intentional profile—releasing training footage, participating in open workouts, and even penning letters to NFL teams reaffirming his commitment and readiness. But so far, no contract has come.

> “I know what I bring to the table—on and off the field,” Kaepernick added. “If the call comes, I’ll be ready to answer it.”

A Polarizing Figure, Still Making Waves

Kaepernick’s continued exclusion from the NFL remains one of the most controversial chapters in league history. Despite a Super Bowl appearance, consistent production, and unmatched athleticism, he’s been unofficially blackballed—his protest redefining the intersection of sports and activism.

But the former 49ers quarterback doesn’t seem bitter. Instead, he’s betting that time, performance, and perseverance will speak louder than controversy.

Is the Clock Running Out?

Realistically, time is Kaepernick’s greatest opponent. The NFL is a young man’s game, and opportunities for older free-agent QBs are few and far between. But in a league where injuries can rewrite depth charts overnight, staying in shape and staying visible could be all it takes.

For now, Kaepernick waits—not just with hope, but with hard work to back it up.
