Former England striker Darren Bent has pinpointed what he believes could hand Arsenal a huge advantage in their clash with Liverpool this weekend — insisting Jürgen Klopp’s side are defensively vulnerable and “all over the place.”
Defensive Frailties Exposed
Speaking on talkSPORT, Bent argued that while Liverpool’s attack remains one of the most feared in the league, their backline has lost the discipline and composure that once made them title winners.
“Defensively, they’re not the same Liverpool we used to see,” Bent said. “At times they’re all over the place — leaving gaps, losing concentration, and you can definitely get at them. If Arsenal are sharp and ruthless, this is where they can win the game.”
Arsenal’s Chance to Strike
Bent believes Mikel Arteta’s side have exactly the tools to punish Liverpool’s lapses. With Bukayo Saka’s direct running, Gabriel Martinelli’s pace, and the creative vision of Martin Ødegaard, Arsenal could exploit the spaces Liverpool’s full-backs often leave when pushing high up the pitch.
“Arsenal have the energy and movement to stretch them. If they get it right on Sunday, they can take full advantage of Liverpool’s mistakes,” Bent added.
