“You Can Feel It” Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes Makes Telling Statement About Relocating Team (Report)

Posted on July 12, 2025

The Kansas City Chiefs have built their team around star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.  He has returned the favor by winning three Super Bowls and having one of the best starts to a career that anyone ever has.  The Chiefs have turned into a juggernaut over the last decade or so.

However, relocation is becoming a real possibility, and Mahomes had something to say about it.

There is a lot of debate raging in the Kansas City Metro Area right now over the Chiefs’ and the Royals’ stadium dilemmas:

In 2024 Jackson County voters rejected an extension of the 3/8-cent sales tax that would have been used to renovate the Chiefs’ Arrowhead Stadium and build a new stadium for the Royals in the downtown area.

The Chiefs and Royals are now listening to offers from both Missouri and Kansas. If the Chiefs remain in Missouri, the 53-year-old Arrowhead Stadium will undergo more renovations. If they elect to move to Kansas, they will get a brand new stadium.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes broke his silence on the stadium issue during an interview with CNBC:

From CNBC: “It’s really out of my control. But I think Arrowhead is a special place. It’s a special place that doesn’t come around a lot of times. It’s my favorite place to play in the NFL — not just because it’s my team, but you can feel the history of it when you play. I know Kansas has done a great bid as well and they would build us a great stadium and facility. I don’t really have a choice in the matter anyway, but I think either way we can’t go wrong because we have the fanbase of Chiefs Kingdom behind us and they’ll fill that stadium no matter if it’s in Missouri or Kansas. I’m just excited for the future of the Kansas City Chiefs.”

That is a refreshing and levelheaded take by Mahomes. Some Kansas City residents have gotten quite bent out of shape regarding the matter, but as Mahomes said, the important thing is that the Chiefs are staying in the K.C. area. Staying in Missouri or moving to the Kansas side each have their advantages and disadvantages, but it’s the fans that are the heartbeat of any stadium.
